Amalfi
City of roman origins it was the first maritime republic in Italy.
During its period of peak Amalfi own coinage (Tarì) and gave birth place to Flavio Gioia inventor of the sea compass.
Not to be missed the cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew (Sant'Andrea), the cloister of paradise and the Emerald Grotto (Grotta dello Smeraldo).
